November: Inclusion Month at EUTOPIA

Each November, the EUTOPIA Alliance celebrates Inclusion Month across its ten partner universities, reaffirming inclusion as one of its core founding values. Alongside excellence, sustainability, cooperation, and academic freedom, inclusion shapes EUTOPIA’s vision of universities as open, diverse, and innovative communities.

Inclusion at the Heart of Academia

For EUTOPIA, openness and inclusion are not only ideals — they are essential to the future of European higher education.
In a rapidly changing world, universities must go beyond adapting; they must lead change by producing and sharing knowledge openly, fairly, and collaboratively.

This commitment is reflected in one of EUTOPIA’s five key thematic priorities: Democracy, Inclusion & Equal Opportunities.

Connected Communities in Action

EUTOPIA’s Connected Communities link teachers, researchers, and students across Europe, breaking barriers within academia and between universities and society.
These networks bring teaching and research closer together and promote inclusion through Internationalisation at Home — ensuring that global learning experiences are accessible to all, whether or not mobility is possible.

Across EUTOPIA campuses, students and staff engage in a rich exchange of ideas, perspectives, and cultures.

Events Across Europe

Throughout November, universities from Cluj to Barcelona, Dresden to Lisbon, and Gothenburg to Venice will host conferences, workshops, and interactive sessions dedicated to inclusion.
These events create opportunities to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore how inclusion can be strengthened in everyday academic life.

Inclusion Month is a time to celebrate progress, reflect on challenges, and renew our collective commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.
As a European university alliance, EUTOPIA demonstrates that inclusion is not only a value to uphold — it is a driving force for the universities of the future.
