
EUTOPIA_HEALTH Hackathon 2026 in Lisbon
Researchers and PhD students from Babeș-Bolyai University are invited to join the EUTOPIA_HEALTH Hackathon, which brings together academia and industry to tackle real-world challenges in health and well-being.
Applications are open until 14 June via the events registration form.
The programme combines collaboration, mentoring, and innovation, and is built around three main moments:
- 16 September: online session
- 16 September – 27 October: mentoring period (online)
- 27–29 October: onsite sessions hosted in Lisbon by NOVA University
This year’s hackathon is built around four real-world challenges proposed by our industry stakeholders:
- Challenge 1 – Farmácias Holon
How to improve adherence to polypharmacy treatments (generally defined as the use of five or more medications) to reduce disease progression and hospitalizations? – find out more - Challenge 2 – EVITA
How to support healthcare professionals in identifying and managing patients at risk of hereditary cancer? – find out more - Challenge 3 – NTT Portugal
How can we transform environmental data into personalized recommendations to prevent health risks in everyday life? – find out more - Challenge 4 – Testa & Cunhas, SA
How might we assess the medical and/or nutritional use of innovative marine ingredients derived from blue mussel, horse mackerel, and Atlantic chub mackerel, including their extracted oils, to determine their potential for commercialization in the EU market? – find out more
Participants will work in international teams, receive expert feedback, and co-develop innovative solutions with direct societal and market relevance.

Important for UBB applicants:
5 on-site participation places in Lisbon will be financed for selected candidates from Babeș-Bolyai University. Commitment to attend all sessions, as well as the relevance of the applicant’s profile to the health domain, will be decisive factors in the selection process.
