Supporting Research Activities of PhD Students in the Health Field
Babeș-Bolyai University announces the launch, on 7 April 2026, of an internal grant competition aimed at supporting research activities carried out by PhD students in the health field. The initiative is implemented within the institutional project Premiere EUTOPIA_HEALTH (project code PN-IV-P8-8.1-PRE-HE-ORG-2024-0254), funded through the National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation 2022–2027 (PNCDI IV).
🎯 Objective of the Competition
In line with the general objective of the project, the competition aims to:
- support early-career researchers (PhD students);
- contribute to the development of institutional research infrastructure;
- facilitate the achievement of scientific results with impact in the health field (broadly defined).
💰 Available Budget and Funding Conditions
- Three grants will be awarded, each worth 5,000 RON.
- Funding is intended exclusively for the purchase of consumables, laboratory materials, or inventory items necessary for research activities (e.g., technical consumables, laboratory glassware and accessories, chemical reagents, sampling kits, experimental materials, etc.).
- Not eligible: equipment, services (including subscriptions), travel, or other similar expenditure categories.
- The total value of requested purchases (including VAT) must not exceed 5,000 RON.
- Funds must be used, in accordance with UBB procurement and reimbursement rules, by 31 October 2026.
👥 Eligibility
Applications may be submitted by:
- PhD students enrolled at Babeș-Bolyai University.
🧪 Eligible Research Areas
Proposals must fall within health-related research areas, such as (indicative list):
- applied medical technologies, diagnostics, therapy;
- clinical or health psychology;
- health economics;
- life sciences relevant to health;
- physical education for health;
- public health;
- other related fields.
📝 Application Process
- The application form must be completed online via the submission link, which will become active on 7 April 2026.
- An informative version of the form (link here) includes detailed information on the use of funds, the list of planned purchases, and supporting documents (price offers, product catalogues, supplier brochures, screenshots from websites, etc.).
- Supporting documents must be uploaded directly to the submission platform.
- The approval/endorsement of the PhD supervisor (free format) must also be uploaded to the platform.
📊 Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated:
- on a rolling basis, in the order of submission;
- based on the justification of the need for funding;
- according to relevance for achieving scientific results of excellence;
- based on alignment with health-related research fields.
Evaluation will continue until the available budget is exhausted. Once funds are depleted, the submission link will no longer be available. Incomplete applications and/or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

- Applicants will be informed of the selection outcome within 5 working days of submission.
