Between November 13–17, 2024, eight students from Babeș-Bolyai University (representing the Faculties of Mathematics and Computer Science, Economics and Business Administration, Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and European Studies) proudly represented UBB at the Open Innovation Challenge.
This event, hosted by CY Cergy Paris University in France as part of the EUTOPIA Alliance, aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking among students from member universities.
During the five-day program, UBB participants engaged in a multicultural environment, collaborating in teams to design innovative solutions to real-world business challenges. The Open Innovation Challenge in Cergy built on the success of the inaugural edition hosted earlier this year by Babeș-Bolyai University.
The event began with a dynamic team-building and ice-breaking session at Koezio. On the second day, participants explored business challenges presented by entrepreneurs, gaining insights into concrete problems requiring innovative solutions. The day also included a cultural visit to Château d’Auvers and a design thinking workshop.
Days three and four were dedicated to intensive teamwork at the Helix Amphitheatre, CY Tech, where participants collaborated to develop creative and practical solutions to the proposed challenges. On the fourth day, teams presented their preliminary results to a panel of experts.
The competition culminated in the final event held at the prestigious ESSEC Business School, where a distinguished jury evaluated the final solutions. Two teams were recognized as winners for their outstanding creativity and the practical impact of their projects. The event concluded with a festive graduation ceremony for EUTOPIA students at Mélangeur, Théâtre 95.
The participation of UBB students in this event provided an exceptional opportunity for international collaboration, learning, and professional development, highlighting their ability to innovate and excel on a global stage.
